Your new role…

As a Manufacturing Technician on the Production Team the successful candidate will undertake operations and maintenance of the power plant, and its auxiliary systems, on a shift cycle.  The candidate will bring proven experience as a highly motivated and resourceful technician in the power or process industry. The main duties are listed but not limited to the below:


Main Duties:

  • To fully partake in a team working environment in the operation and maintenance of the entire power station asset base to meet electricity production schedules in accordance with;

(1) Safety requirements of the power station production process and Energia Group HSE policies.

(2) Environmental compliance requirements in relation to the power station production process.

(3) Operating and maintenance procedures as updated from time to time.

  • Electricity and fuel market processes in relation to station operation
  • Efficient use of all available resources.
  • To develop competency in a full range of problem solving, diagnostic and fault-finding skills on plant equipment and systems.
  • To continuously build your level of knowledge, understanding and ability to help maintain the highest levels of availability, efficiency and reliability of the power station production process.
  • Competency is expected across various disciplines i.e. process, electrical fault finding, mechanical appreciation, instrumentation capability, logic tracing, hazard identification etc.
  • Both plant operations and maintenance may be part of your normal day to day activities.
  • To develop the ability and responsibility for promoting the safety, health and wellbeing of all persons working in the power plant.
  • Adapt, develop and update operating and maintenance procedures for all the power station assets.
  • Define and implement emergency procedures for the power station.
  • Support and contribute to the achievement of recognised international standards of the operation, maintenance and environment management systems used by the power plant.
  • Develop innovative approaches to improve our systems and processes as appropriate to ensure we are running in an effective manner.
  • Be an integral member of our overall Huntstown team; collaborating, sharing knowledge, support and flexibility with your colleagues.


Essential Criteria:

  • Proven ability to troubleshoot plant faults – covering mechanical, automation, electrical, control and process chemistry.
  • Must have undergone a time-served apprenticeship and/or a third level qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, C&I or Automation Engineering.
  • Proven ability to start-up/shut down/sustain and re-configure process plant.
  • Sound understanding of DCS components such as Siemens Teleperm XP, Siemens S5/S7, MHI DIASYS or other industry offerings.
  • Demonstrable experience of drafting and updating procedures.


Desirable Criteria:

  • Safety authorisation under a Safe System of Work.
  • Sound industrial system knowledge – with SQL, TCP/IP, PLC, Visual Basic, UNIX/LINUX, Fieldbus.
  • Working competency in programming languages such as Visual Basic, JAVA, SQL.
  • Working knowledge of - PI Historian; competency in process chemistry and control systems such as PID, Cascade, Sequential.

Additional Requirements:      

The job requires a considerable degree of commitment, flexibility and adaptability on the part of the job holders to meet quality standards and work deadlines. The individual must have a forward-thinking approach and be able to work independently.  This role involves working unsociable hours on a 24/7 shift pattern over a full year.
