Your new role…

The Finance Assistant will play a key role within Energia’s central Group function.  The successful applicant will provide accounting expertise and support across the full range of processes within this challenging and critical function.

Main Duties:

  • Prepare and process the transfer of internal and external funds
  • Prepare and process payment proposals for submission of supplier payments to the bank
  • Maintain and update the cash books for relevant bank transactions and ensure incomes and expenditures detailed in the cashbook are posted to the accounting system (SAP)
  • Preparation and checking of confirmations for callable account deposits, fixed term deposits and foreign exchange deal (spot and forward) confirmations
  • Prepare and agree reconciliation's at month end of Bank statements to the cash books and to SAP
  • Update files for all loans, interest and hedges, and prepare monthly accruals for input to SAP
  • Assist the team in managing the working capital requirements of the Group including cash flow forecasting
  • Maintain strong working relationships with the Groups banks
  • Reconcile and maintain the collateral positions for the Letter of Credit and cash collateral facilities
  • Provide support in maintain banking mandates and in setting up new accounts as necessary
  • Any other duties as required

The post will be offered on a permanent personal contract basis and will include an attractive benefits package, including a salary to reflect the skills and experience of the successful candidate.  The post will be based in our offices at Newforge Lane, Belfast.


The role will be working Monday to Friday, 4.5 hours a day, preferably mornings however this may be negotiable.                                                                                              

Essential Criteria:

  • Strong experience in an accounts receivable / accounts payable / cash management / treasury or similar finance role to include demonstrable experience in the following areas:
    1. Relevant reconciliations and resolution of issues arising; and
    2. Double entry/general ledger postings
  • Experience of integrated accounting systems e.g. SAP, SAGE
  • A high degree of computer literacy including Microsoft Excel

Desirable Criteria:

  • Hold a full IATI qualification or equivalent
  • Experience working with Cognos
  • Knowledge of the electricity supply market
