Your new role…

This exciting Technical Analyst position sits within Energia Group Technology & Innovation; we are looking for talented and experienced IT professionals with a strong foundation in application support, who can contribute to the organisation's success.

The successful candidate will act as a Technical Analysis within Technology & Innovation Operations analysing and responding to any issues that are reported or requested in relation to the Web Apps & Reporting Squad. Reporting to the Web Apps Team Lead, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing essential support to both Power NI and Energia domestic across the Web Apps & Reporting systems.

Main Duties:

  • Responsibility for providing root cause analysis to web App systems issues and management of third level support
  • Acting as a system expert by responding to and developing ad hoc queries and scripts, and providing application support
  • Ensuring priority incidents are responded to and closed within the SLAs
  • Capturing and coordinating requirements on incidents
  • Engaging with internal customers/third parties to ensure the web App systems solutions continuously meets business requirements
  • Liaising with internal customers to define functional and non-functional software specifications for the billing platform systems
  • Communicating business specifications in a clear and concise manner
  • Conducting a review of software development, test cases and evidence before applying changes to the production environment
  • Providing support and development to business process areas
  • Work within the team to triage and investigate defects in production systems and producing workarounds for critical issues as well as change requests for end-user systems.
  • Involved in using modern software development toolsets including DevOps, Continuous Integration and Delivery within a cloud environment

Essential Criteria:

  • A third level qualification in a Computing related discipline
  • Experience in addressing and solving IT and business issues with third party vendors and internal customers
  • Experience in supporting business critical software solutions
  • Understanding of website infrastructure, hosting and security
  • Understanding of cloud technology and cloud environment management


Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience of delivering projects to, or supporting systems for the Energy and Utility sectors
  • Working knowledge of:
  1. Oracle, SQL, MS SQL Server
  2. HTML
  3. Java, JavaScript
  4. XML, XSL
  5. Jira
  6. Managing Cloud environments.
