Ballylongford Wind Farm powers ahead with completion of turbine installation
Ballylongford Wind Farm in County Kerry has reached another important milestone with the successful installation of all turbines.
Energia Renewables are delighted to announce that the Ballylongford Wind Farm in County Kerry has reached another important milestone with the successful installation of all six turbines.
Once operational, the 25.2 MW wind farm will be capable of generating enough renewable energy to power around 14,500 homes. It will offset over 40,000 tonnes of carbon annually, which equates to removing around 28,000 cars off our roads, and will make a significant contribution in helping power Ireland's energy transition, reducing reliance on fossil fuels and increasing security of energy supply.
Energia Renewables Project Manager, Gerad O’Leary said, “It’s fantastic to reach this important milestone in the project. The successful installation of all six turbines reflects the dedication and collaboration of our teams on the ground and our partners. We are looking forward to completing this project and to begin delivering clean, renewable power to the grid supporting the achievement of Ireland’s Climate Action targets.”
The installation of the turbines at the Ballylongford site was overseen by the Energia Renewables construction team. The supply and installation of the turbines was completed by ENERCON.
Next steps will include testing and commissioning of the turbines.
Ballylongford Wind Farm will be Energia Group’s 18th operational site on the island of Ireland. The Group continues to make progress on its commitment to the energy transition including a strong pipeline of onshore wind, offshore wind, and solar projects to facilitate the achievement of Government climate action targets.
